How we vet the cleaners who get a key to your home
· Updated
You are handing someone a key to your home. They will be there while you are not, around your belongings and your family's things. For most people that is the real hesitation about hiring anyone, and it has very little to do with cleaning.
So here is the whole process, named. No adjectives.
Six checks before a first job
Every cleaner who works through BeeLux clears all six of these before they are dispatched to a single home:
- A criminal background check
- A Social Security number trace
- A national sex offender registry search
- Global watchlist screening
- A personal interview
- Reference verification, against professional references they provide
The first four are records checks and they are pass or fail. The interview and the references are where most candidates who clear the records checks still do not make it through, because reliability and how someone handles an unexpected problem do not show up in a database.
We rely on information provided by third parties for the records checks, so we cannot guarantee those records are complete. That is true of any company that runs them, and it is stated plainly in our terms.
Insurance, and what it actually covers
BeeLux and our cleaners carry general liability insurance. Proof of coverage is verified once a year, not once at onboarding.
Worth being straight about the limits, because it is the part most cleaning companies gloss: our terms set out how damage claims work, including the window for reporting one and the cap on what we pay. Read §9 before you book rather than after something happens. A company that tells you where the ceiling is beforehand is easier to trust than one that says you are fully covered and sends you to the fine print later.
Independent contractors, and why that is stated up front
Our cleaners are independent professionals, not employees. They set their own schedules, use their own equipment, and can work for other clients.
What BeeLux is responsible for is the matching, the booking, payments, support, and quality. What that means for you in practice: one number to call, one standard to hold, and one place the accountability sits. The arrangement is set out in full in §1 of the terms.
The standard does not depend on who shows up
Vetting gets the right person to your door. The published 35-point checklist is what makes the visit itself repeatable. A standard clean covers 27 of those tasks, a deep clean 33, a move-out 32. It is on the site, it does not change based on who is assigned, and you can read it before you book.
On recurring plans we aim to keep the same cleaner on your home so they learn how you like things. If your regular cleaner is out, we send someone briefed on your home.
If something is not right
Tell us within 48 hours with a few photos and we will come back and make it right at no extra charge, within 7 days. That applies to every service.
That is the whole promise. It is smaller than "fully protected" and it is one we can actually keep.
What this is for
None of this is complicated. It is a records check, an interview, references, insurance that gets re-verified, a checklist you can read, and a way to get a mistake fixed.
The reason to publish it is that it is checkable. See what a clean costs for your home, or read more about how we work.
